Niro Pharma Group Displays Solid Dosage Production Equipment at ACHEMA 2000

The Group, part of GEA's Powder Technology Division, will display powder handling equipment, blenders, containment systems, fluid beds, coaters, one-pot-processors, and tablet presses. These will cover four stands, representing the Group's component companies: Aeromatic-Fielder (Hall 4.0, D15-E21), Buck and Gallay Systems (Hall 1.1, E6-F7), Machines Collette (Hall 6.0, F22-F24), and Courtoy (Hall 3.1, F35-F39).

Aeromatic-Fielder will exhibit its Fluid Bed Dryer with CIP and stainless steel cartridge filters—integrated with the PHARMA MATRIX PMA 300 mixer/granulator. Engineered for cleanability, this dryer is designed to ensure repeatability and minimize downtime.

Visitors to this stand can also see the MP-MICRO fluid bed, with interchangeable modules for dry mixing, spray granulation/agglomeration, spray coating, and drying. Designed to handle small quantities of product, this machine offers flexibility similar to that of a production-scale machine. Also on display are Aeromatic's Precision Coater air suspension system for rapid, uniform precision coating, and the GP1/SP one-pot-processor with M8 impeller for improved mixing.

The ULTIMA range, which can be seen on the Collette stand, provides an alternative choice of one-pot-processor with a swinging bowl for fast drying results. Both theAeromatic-Fielder and Collette machines are designed for research and development work—including mixing, granulating, pelletising, and drying with microwave.

Courtoy tablet presses on display includes: the R190FT Single-sided "Fast Changeover" press, with removable turret for tooling flexibility; the R292F, for the making double-layer tablets; and the R233 Heavy Duty Rotary press for applications requiring high compression forces on large tablets. In addition, the TVIS-EXX Tablet Video Inspection System, with 50µm resolution and speeds of up to 3,600 tablets a minute, will also be on show.

Gallay and Buck's stand will feature Gallay's Single Pedestal Blender for in-container blending—improving efficiency by reducing loading and unloading times and eliminating the need for cleaning between blends. A Laboratory Blender will also be exhibited. This combines the blending characteristics of larger, production-scale machines with a small, light and easy-to-move design.

Buck's technology, which is closely linked with Gallay's, includes the Buck Discharge System. Developed to overcome problems associated with discharging sticky difficult materials from containers, this product benefits in pharmaceutical manufacture, where products are also often highly potent and need to be handled in a highly contained manner. Others products on display are the Buck Valve, available as either PTFE coated EPDM or solvent-resistant seal material, and the Buck Dispensing System, featuring recipe control and integrated aspiration to minimize the dust exposure to the operator.

Gallay's experience in providing fully validatable wash stations for the Buck Valve Docking System will be demonstrated by a unit showing the Cleaning in Place (CIP) procedure. This method offers considerable efficiency gains, as equipment does not need to be stripped down for cleaning between batches.
